Seasonal Positions

Winter Crop Planting (Cereals, Grain, Legumes, Canola)

Eastern States seasons typically run from April to June. Operators for large 4WD tractors and air-seeders as well as field sprayers are required. Typically 12 hour shifts – cultivating, spraying and seeding.

Winter Crop Harvest

Season runs from September to January. Experienced combine operators, chaser bin drivers and semi-trailer drivers are required. Combine operators are required to service and operate the machine for 12 – 16 hour shifts. Jobs are both with farmers and contractors. Harvest starts in Queensland and follows south into NSW as the season progresses.

Cotton Planting and Harvest

Cotton farmers require tractor drivers and irrigators from September to February. Cultivation and seeding equipment are usually 8 to 12 row implements, with drivers typically working 12 hour shifts. Harvest commences in late March and continues to late May. Operators are required for module presses, boll buggies and pickers. Working conditions are typically 16 hour days, 7 days a week.

Summer Crop Harvest

Harvest of Sorghum ( Milo ), Sunflowers, Soybeans and other summer crops commences in Queensland in February. Harvest work is similar to that of winter crops.

Trucking

Truck driving positions are with farmers and contractors and usually involve hauling grain to elevators or larger centralised storages. Tandem rigid trucks and semi-trailers are the most common configurations. Applicants will need to have the appropriate licences required to drive in Australia .
