OVERSEER
Dirranbandi, Southern Queensland

A privately owned mixed grain and stock enterprise requires an experienced Overseer to oversee the running of their three properties. The three properties have a total of 45,000 acres running approximately 12,000 sheep (prime lamb and merino), 500 head of cattle, 3000 acres of dry-land cultivation and 1200 acres of irrigated land.

Duties and Responsibilities

STOCK
- The care of nutrition and health of all livestock run on three properties.
- The co-ordination of all contractors involved e.g. shearing, lamb marking, mulesing, livestock and wool carriers.
- Supervision of casual employees and contract musterers.
- The organization of all the requirements of the livestock e.g. chemicals, dip and drench, shed supplies and all application apparatus.

FARMING
- Liaising with all contactors e.g. row crop farmers, aerial and ground chemical applicators and harvesting contractors.
- Direct involvement in water harvesting, grain handling spray drift management any other farm tasks that may arise.
MAINTENANCE
- Maintenance of all infrastructure including buildings, fences, watering points etc and at time any new infrastructure.
- Maintenance and upkeep of all vehicles and machinery.

The Overseer will need to show high levels of enthusiasm and self motivation to be successful in the position. It is essential that the successful applicant have experience in all the above mentioned areas and can show leadership amongst other staff.

The accommodation provided is a 4 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms, air conditioned throughout with reverse cycle air conditioning in the lounge/kitchen. The house has established gardens and a trickle water system in place. This house is situated within the township of Dirranbandi with all amenities close by.

A generous package is on offer dependent on skills and experience shown at start of employment.
